OUTFIT: Zebra. Uhm. Leo.

Do you know the Stroop-Effect? It is the phenomenon that applies when you do that little test where you have a list of words like Blue, Yellow, Red, Orange and so on but they are written in different colors so that the word BLUE is colored in orange? Then, you’re supposed to read the list without thinking about what you’re doing – and what always happens to me is that I don’t read the words but the colors that I see (find this test here). I can’t seem to wrap my brain around that test and I get fooled every single time. Same thing happend to me with the shoes I’m wearing in today’s basic comfy outfit (you might wanna scroll down to check them out real quick to follow the story). See, I’ve had those loafers for a year now and what happend is that I looked at them and saw black, white and Animalprint. My brain made the (false) connection and so I always secretly called them my zebra-shoes. I even had a polaroid of them made for my shoe storage where it said zebra loafers in the title.

Last week, I wore them in the office for the first time. My colleague entered the room, looked at them and said ‚Oh Lena. Wearing leopard today, huh?‘. I had already opend my mouth and put on the I-know-better-face to say ‚D’Uh, they’re z-e-b-r-a shoes!‘ when I looked down and for the first time realized that they were actually leopard print shoes. But in black and white. See what happened there? I laughed so hard about myself and about that effect that the brain just has. Needless to say, I immediately ordered a new, corrected polaroid. Uhum. This outfit is what I like to wear in everyday life, espcially for the office. We don’t have a strict dresscode, so no need for pencil skirts and blouses. So black skinny jeans, a jersey shirt and denim jacket are fine. I like to add a little special touch by choosing one special item – my zebra, uhm, leo shoes in this case. Do you know about that Stroop-Effect?
